Picking Your First Natural Gas Grills

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Summertime would not be complete without at least one outdoor barbeque. Once upon a time, there was a very limited array of foods that you could cook on your grill Today, modern conveniences allow you to cook pretty much any type of food on your grill.

The easiest grill to use is by far the natural gas grill. Natural gas grills are designed to hook directly into your home’s natural gas line, eliminating the need to provide the fuel source. This cuts out all trips to the grocery store for more charcoal or propane.

Another advantage when using a natural gas grills is the ability to control the temperature in which you are cooking. Natural gas grills have burner controls which allow you to produce different temperatures for the different cooking areas on your grill. This allows you to cook your meat on one side while keeping your side dished warm on the other.

Natural gas grills, have the ability to come with many different types of cooking surfaces. These different cooking surfaces include a BBQ surface, a flat grill, and a ribbed grill. Some grills even offer these types of surfaces as none stick, which allow you to cook a whole array of foods that you would not be able to cook on a grill otherwise. Some gas grills even contain a Wok type surface for cooking pasta and rise dishes, or a full rotisserie set that allows you to cook rotisserie chicken.

Natural gas grills are by far the easiest type of grill to clean. With other grills such as charcoal and smoker grills, you have to remove the wood and charcoal briquettes each time. Natural grills only have to be wiped down. Some natural gas grills even have a none stick feature. (more…)

GOLDEN FISH: A FISH AS PETS

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

The little golden fish wondering alone around his bowl seems to be long forgotten. If you want something new for your house, think about fish and aquariums… big aquariums.

Instead of the little bowl, there are now huge aquariums, mounted on the walls or even enclosed in them, containing lots of colored fish, sand, lights, little stones and aquatic vegetation. Optionally you can choose a little castle of house to make the décor unique and fantasy-lie.

This idea has been adopted from restaurants, clubs or other public locations, but now it applies to homes of animal lovers, fish lovers especially.

You have decided to adopt fish because you like them or because you heard they bring prosperity and well-living to your life. Either way, you have to know how to take care of them because they are not just a decorative object; they are living beings that can’t take care of themselves.

They are going to need your full attention and care, they will totally depend on you. Here is some general advice, general because each species act differently and has different needs:

What do we need?
We need an aquarium, a thermometer, a heating system, a water filter, and plants to oxygenate the water, sand and little stones, and a source of light for the plants. (more…)

Why Hiking is a Good Recreational Activity

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Are you interested in doing something fun and exciting on a day that you may have off from work or a weekend that you may have no plans? If you are, there is a good chance that you may be interested in doing something recreational. One of those options involves going on a hike.

Hiking is one of the most popular recreational activities in many countries. While different individuals have different reasons for enjoying hiking, it is easy to see that hiking is loved by many. In the United States, most cities and towns have at least one hiking park or hiking trail and many have more than one. What does that mean for you? It means that whether you are looking to go hiking for a few hours or if you want to go hiking for a few days, it should be more than possible for you to do so.

One of the many reasons why hiking is such a popular recreational activity is because it is a challenge. Yes, playing a game of basketball or a game of baseball can be fun and exciting, but there isn’t much out there like hiking. Even if you choose to hike the same hiking trail multiple times a year, you will still likely find surprises and changes. That is what is nice about nature; nothing stays the same forever. Every time that you go on a hike, it will seem as if it is a completely new and exciting adventure.

Hiking is also popular because it can be done a number of different ways. For instance, hiking is a recreational activity that you can do alone or with a group of your friends or even with your family. Most hikers prefer hiking with someone that they know. If you would prefer to hike independently, that is okay, but you may want to take a few extra steps to ensure your safety. These extra steps involve letting someone know where you will be hiking and when you can be expected back, dressing properly, and brining your cell phone with you.

Another reason why hiking is such a popular activity is because it is a workout. There are many individuals who enjoy hiking, well just because, but then there are others who like to go hiking as a form of exercise. Hiking trials are known for their vast array of landscaping. When going hiking, you could walk up steps, climb over small rocks, climb down hilly slopes, and much more. The varied landscape is perfect for workouts, as it really tests your body and its strength. If you are interested in hiking as a part of a routine workout, you may want to examine local parks that offer membership plans or discounts to regular hikers.

How to drink enough water during exercise (Part 2)

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

So based on this, you know you need to drink water. Now the question is how much do you drink?

What is the standard? For the sake of argument, we’re going to say that one water bottle = one pint, by single water bottle I mean 16oz/473ml. I have water bottles that hold more but we’re going to use the smaller water bottles as benchmark. So this means that when you see some sports drink that advertises itself as 1 liter, you will know that it means about 2 water bottles full. You will also know that losing 1 pound (~.5kg) means about 1 water bottle in loss. One liter is about 2 pounds (~1kg).

The hole is larger than the spout. When youre exercising, your body simply cannot replenish the electrolytes and calories at the rate youre burning them. Evaporation from your sweat is much faster than you can drink. Later in this article we will discuss what happened in a study of ultra-marathoners who have tried to over-hydrate only to have hindered performance through a dilution of electrolytes and sodium, but we will discuss this later.

What you’re using. Using averages, you lose about 1 liter (2 water bottles) of fluid per one hour of exercise. When I go on a bike ride on our local and world famous American River Bike Trail, I generally ride between 2~3 hours, so from the time I leave my house to the time I get back, I lose about 3 liters of water; more if it emotional and clammy, less if its cold and dry. I’m in good aerobic shape so I have about 90 minutes of glycogen (sugar) stored in my muscles; if you’re in fairly decent shape, you have about the same. If not, you could take about 30 minutes off that. If you’re an ultra endurance athlete, you could add about 30 minutes to that time. If you’re a Lance Armstrong quality athlete, you could add another 15 minutes to that time. (more…)
